Last weeks sermon was tough and I want to keep it going.

1) How as a church can we fight for the rights of our brothers and sisters more than our own rights?

2) What does it look like to trust God for the provision of your whole life?

I would love to hear some stories about how giving has changed your life. It would be good to hear how hard it is. It would also be good to hear how faithful God is. This is a good place to honor Christ and praise Him for His provision in your life.

Please, do not think these are rhetorical questions--spend the time to answer them.

I love you and this church. I cannot wait to see what God will do with our faithfulness.

If you missed Sunday 2/10/08, please go online and listen.

We talked about some of this last night at home group, so I thought I'd throw my two cents in.

Whether it's time, money or anything else, unless one is truly "giving 'til it hurts" and sacrificing something else to let God do His thing, then we're really just being selfish and keeping our gifts to ourselves.

There are so many cool things going on at V21 that is unfortunately piled onto the shoulders of the pastors and staff and those who do volunteer, while a lot of folks seem to be content to sit back and enjoy what they see around them.

It's hard - I know I'd much rather catch up on what's on my DVR, sleep late or just goof off, but we're missing a chance to really affect the city and the community around us! Ever since we came to V21, it was almost like a switch flipped in that area - to me, it feels great to be exhausted when you work for the Lord, or even though it sucks to bring lunch twice as often to work, that any money you sacrifice can do awesome things here and beyond.

People often throw around the 10% number in churches - what if instead of guilting people into giving 10% of their money (which V21 doesn't do - just the overalll perception of churches in general) that over the next month or two, we had a 10% increase in the number of people participating to help V21 reach Raleigh through our time, our sweat and our finances, and really give of EVERYTHING 'til it hurts?

It's a big city out here, and it's time we as a church body gets off the sidelines!
