After going through several persons at Vintage and feeling somewhat discouraged, I am going to attempt a post on here to see if my thoughts can further be developed regarding Vintage's goals and steps towards international church planting/justice.
The Lord calls his people to go into all the nations and preach the gospel. He also says that all the nations will praise His name. This is not a request, but a definitive statement. This is what I feel the Lord has wired my heart to see. I am heavily burdened by the lack of water in Africa, human trafficking and want to see Vintage helping to redeem the world.
How can I get involved with what Vintage is doing? I am getting married in June and will be working part time over the summer. I will have hours and I have a passion to see Vintage go cross-culturally. I understand that this is a long-term goal, because I am not at all suggesting short-terms missions work alone. I would love to talk to anybody more in depth about this, but I am tired of conversations that happen once and then nothing more is decided or pursued. I would like some feedback, even if it's just the assurance that this is being prayed about.
thank you

Hey Amy. Right now, Social Justice, International Missions, & Missionality are all combined. That said, I am the main contact for those ministries. There are some things being done right now, and some new ideas being worked out hopefully next week (locally). I believe a big part is communicating where each follower's responsibility lies, and that can best be done through teaching. Tyler is constantly addressing things on Sundays that we need to be aware of and respond to. I'm also putting together the Rhythms of Mission class for May, where I will attempt to address a lot of these things. Outside of that, we are holding off on pouring too much into actively pursuing local and international justice through Vintage21 ministries. We are praying that God would raise up the right person to lead this, and we would rather step back and be prepared for these things, than jump in half-heartedly right now. There is a process to get a person into this kind of leadership, and if that person is interested in finding out about it, they would need to speak with an elder about it. So, I don't want you to hear that we're doing nothing, but that we are waiting and praying. Hopefully through constantly addressing these things, from a teaching standpoint, we will be able to encourage people to step up and take the initiative. _________________ http://inandfor.wordpress.com |

Thank you Rob, for replying so quickly! I feel much better after seeing where Vintage is at right now, and I am excited to be able to become a part of this as it develops. I am hoping to be able to be a part of the Missionality class in may, but that will depend on marriage stuff, etc.
Thanks again and I will be praying with you.

thanks for sending me to this, rob.
it's funny- amy and i had breakfast this morning and were discussing this aspect of vintage and how we both are hopeful about the future. vintage has amazing potential in this area, and i, along with you, amy, and others, have been in prayer for this passion to continue growing in our church.
i get anxious sometimes knowing all the opportunities that there are and seeing the need daily at my work. but, you are right- there is no need to jump into something. the depravity of my flesh becomes very evident to me in that regard. |

| I am very excited to learn more about the heart that the people of V21 have for social justice. I like, you long to see God's love and grace extended to all people. I urge us to pray for God to have someone step up as Rob put it. Meals at Moore Square is not enough, helping out one person is not enough. We as a body united through Christ are unstoppable, pray fervently for something amazing and unprecedented to happen, for the Holy Spirit to allow unfathomable things to take place in order for Raleigh to be transformed. Let us join together and pray for God to move in this area. |

I'm so happy to hear that Vintage is praying for God's wisdom and guidance in the social justice ministry. I am also glad to see that we are not only concerned with international missions but reaching out in our own community. I believe that reaching out to one person can be the spark that ignites the fire, and I pray that this will be the case.
I will definitely be praying that we are able to find someone to lead us into this ministry. I hope to continue to learn and be convicted in what God is teaching us about social justice. |
