An encouragement:

It's late Saturday night and I've been thinking about today's events. Saturday is the day Morgan and I call our Sabbath. The day was filled with good times. Morgan, Battle and I in the morning, Battle and I in the afternoon, and new friends over for dinner and the game. All in all it's been a great day. But it's got me thinking about the day we call the "Sabbath". Some things we know for sure about it biblically:

1. It's required. (The 4th commandment)
2. God took it. (The Genesis Account of Creation)

Why?

Among the requirements, I think it's important to note that, that one day teaches us about how we should live the rest of the week. The sabbath is also required for rest. Meaning, it's required because you should need rest. The only reason someone needs rest, is because they are tire/pooped/winded or done. However, for most of us, when it comes to the end of the week, we're just taking a day off. Which is really, just a day away from work.(The song, "everybody's working for the weekend" comes to mind). The implication of the Sabbath day of rest is that you should need to take a day to recuperate from the six hard days of work you've put in.

Additionally, It should also serve to show us a picture of eternal rest. How amazing will it be when we don't have to deal with pain sin causes - How sweet will our eternal rest be? SWEET. It goes to show that we should labor/sweat and toil here on earth, so that our Sabbath day is a day of rest, and not just a day off.

So, be encouraged if you are tired at the end of the week and are in need of your day off - Enjoy your families - Enjoy your Friends - Enjoy the blessings of life and thank God that you experienced a hard week and because of it, those things are a little bit sweeter.

Hi Nate,

I have been thinking about this post for a long time... do you have any more thoughts on this?
